Their Request

Kiala was using Zope as the CMS for their websites. Because several people had been working on these sites internally over period of time, the structure was getting lost and the usage was no longer optimal.
Next to that, part of the data for the website was stored in an Oracle database and this needed to remain.

Kiala wanted to go for an open source solution, which allowed the creation of authentication flows, different levels of users with their specific permissions towards the content management, keeping their Tracking and Tracing functionality as well as the Kiala Point Locator.

They also took the opportunity to go for a new design for the websites. They used the services of Ogilvy to do so. We were in charge of translation the PSD files to HTML/CSS.

We also did some mailings for Kiala with Email Garage for some marketing related actions, delivered HTML slicing for mailings to be sent from their personal Outlook mail clients, integrated the Novasys "MapOnAir" platform into a demo site especially built for Kiala France and many other smaller assignments.

Our Solution

Together with the IT department of Kiala, we starting looking around for a good and reliable open source CMS. It did not take us too long to pick Drupal. It had all the customer needed and the large (and growing) community around Drupal, assured us it was the right choice.

Next to the theme and basic set up of the Drupal sites, we also developed some custom modules to have the Tracking and Tracing as well as the Kiala Point Locator. Not only did we implement these functions into the Kiala web sites, but also provided them with interface to have the same logic be "pluggable" into their partners web sites or back offices.
